The November Recap

Maddie Mondays are Back! *If you’re new here, Maddie Mondays are my personal project days, where I don’t work on anything WORK related, and get to do whatever house project I’m currently knee deep in! I finally have time to dedicate to Maddie Mondays, and I am SO excited! Of course, the first thing I had to tackle on my first Maddie Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving) was switching over my home décor from fall to Christmas. My house is now fully decked out (at least inside), so now I’m focusing on a long-awaited project - the board [...]

The October Recap

Twitch Last week, we had the inaugural Sugar Springs Halloween party stream over on Twitch and it was honestly a blast! We did some fun Halloween-themed costume sketches and I let people use their channel points (earned by watching my streams) to redeem me bobbing for apples in exchange for prizes! I was offering everything from private zoom lessons, to prints, to freebies from my shop. And if you were wondering, with all the apple bobbing, my costume makeup definitely did not survive the night, as you can see: With the success of our Halloween party, I [...]

September Recap

Green Rider: First Rider's Call All but two of the photos have been shot! The last two are portraits, so they should be relatively quick to get (she said, famously). So, from now until mid-November, I’ll be locked in my studio (panic) editing the remaining images. And then it will finally be time to put together the art book and do all the fun things, like decide which images will be up for options as ornaments. Speaking of ornaments, don’t forget! If you couldn’t decide which add-ons you wanted during the fundraising campaign, remember that lots of them [...]

My July Recap

Maddie Mondays *If you’re new here, Maddie Mondays are my personal project days, where I don’t work on anything WORK related, and get to do whatever house project I’m currently knee deep in! Several months ago, I started an unforeseeably large project in my front yard. It’s always been a dream of mine to have an English cottage garden, so, at the beginning of May, Hoki and I moved the arbor we’ve had sitting around from our wedding into place to mark the edge of this dream garden. The last few Maddie Mondays (and Saturdays…and any free evening) have [...]

My June Update

Maddie Mondays A few weeks ago, my mom gave me this beautiful old mirror. The only problem (and the reason my mom wasn’t going to keep it) was it was hot pink. She didn’t have the time she thought she would to sand it down and restore it, so she gave it to me in hopes that someone could de-Barbie-ify it. So, I’ve spent the last few weeks stripping off layers of old, grungy paint. I was hoping I was going to be able to sand it down to the raw wood and stain it, but there were too [...]

Sugar Springs Got a Makeover!

The other day (and by that, I mean several weeks ago), I was looking through my blog and realized the last house update I did was back in May of 2019! I do believe I’ve done a few updates in my newsletter and on various social media platforms since then but not a fully fledged post in any one place. Hence today’s post! Maybe none of this is new to you, or maybe all of it is, but I thought it would both be fun to share. And, since I tend to forget how far this house has come, [...]

My April Recap

Some pretty intense April showers…   …are hopefully bringing us a TON of May flowers! We had some pretty intense thunderstorms this week - my road was completely flooded, and the stream across from us burst its banks and essentially turned the entire field across from our house into a river (seriously, there were huge logs floating downstream through the field). It was crazy! I’m still surprised that we didn’t lose power or our internet during the storm.   Maddie Mondays Since spring is FINALLY here for good, I’ve had fun spending time with my mom doing some plant shopping. [...]
