This is it.

The last week of the Kickstarter.

As of writing this, we have hit $50,161, which is $20,161 OVER our minimum goal of $30,000. A sum that Kristina, Kristen, and I almost have no words for. But “thank you… sincerely” is a start.

So why am I sending out this email? I’m sure you’ve gathered I’m not here just to brag about how well the Kickstarter is going, although I am absolutely delighted with where we’re at.

$30,000, though, was just our MINIMUM to be able to package and send out the cd…. which means $30,000 only allows us two soloists (a violinist and a flautist) and a choir. Everything else is virtual.

As Kristina put it, the difference between a virtual orchestra and a real orchestra (something we can have if we reach $90,000), is like watching Lord of the Rings on your phone, versus watching it in theaters. So yes, I am here today to ask for your help.

You might be thinking “I’ve already pledged” or “this isn’t my sort of thing” and that’s totally fine. But you can still make a difference in helping us get the real orchestra, and here’s how:

  1. If you haven’t already, please consider pledging. Even if it’s only $5 (although $15 will get you a digital download of the soundtrack)!

  2. Share any of my social media posts. If you’ve been on my Facebook or Instagram pages in the last month, you know there are a plethora of Kickstarter-related posts to choose from.

  3. Share the Kickstarter directly, either by emailing it to someone, tweeting it, or sharing it directly to your Facebook profile.Just click on these little buttons below the green “Back this project” button on the Kickstarter page:

    4. Verbally tell your friends and family about the project (and make sure they know where to find it online)!

That’s all great Madeline, but really. I haven’t read Green Rider, so this isn’t anything I am really interested in.” Well… here is where I try to change your mind:

  1. You don’t need to have read the books to enjoy this music. Think about when you walk into Panera and you hear soft, ambient music in the background. It’s nice, right? Well… this could be your new Panera music, to listen to while working on your latest project or while cooking dinner. Even better, while reading that book you’ve been dying to indulge in!

  2. It’s not about the book. Ok… it is definitely about Green Rider… but it’s also about you supporting me. It can be as simple as that! Here’s why: being a part of a quality soundtrack production that is exceptionally well-received by a large group of people will help me find new opportunities and customers in the future. These opportunities and customers will help me find even bigger and better projects that will eventually turn into a full-time career. So if the thought of buying a “random book soundtrack” doesn’t appeal… perhaps think of it as helping an artist build her resume to land that job she’s always dreamed of having.

  3. Once you listen to this soundtrack, you’ll want to read Green Rider. And before you say “eh… fantasy books aren’t really my thing”, how about stories with strong female leads (that aren’t too overwhelmingly “all men must die!”)? Or stories of fighting against evil and standing up for what is good and beautiful? Or working hard for something and coming out a better person on top? Or love? Or family? It’s more than just a “fantasy” book, so don’t be afraid to try something new. You might find you have a little bit of a fantasy nerd inside of you, and if you ask me, there’s nothing wrong with that.

Seeing how well Kristina’s and my work is being received has been an absolute delight, and sometimes I find myself thinking “how did I of all of Kristen Britain’s fans get this opportunity? What makes me so special?” The truth is… I’m not all that special… I just learned to never quite. And I never will.

Thank you for your support, your friendship, and your love. It means the world.
