Mystic Myne Jewelry Collaboration: Speed Edit [Patrons Only]

I'm excited to (finally) officially be announcing my second collaboration with Mystic Myne Jewelry to release her latest Villains Collection of crystal crowns! Over the next month and a half, we'll be sharing each of the crowns in the collection, along with fun behind the scenes content detailing the creation of each of these shoots. I've prepared fun material like speed edits, before and afters, vlog updates, and access to the full set of images from each shoot (I'll only be sharing a a couple images from each shoot with my Instagram and Facebook followers)! For each of these shoots, [...]

A Lesson on Taking a Break and Forgiving Myself

Having only been in my house eight months now, each new season has been absolutely delightful to experience. I’ve found myself wanting to document each time of year meticulously with the perfect photograph. So when someone came half-way through spring and mowed down all the beautiful Queen Anne’s Lace that had begun dotting the field across from my house (ruining any chances of my capturing how beautiful it had been), I was upset.   And for some strange reason… I found that I was also really angry. At myself.     I was in the middle of designing what was [...]

The 29 Things I’ve Learned by My 29th Birthday

It was my birthday a few days ago! TWENTY. NINE! As I was driving home with Hoki the evening of my birthday, I kept thinking to myself that 29 felt... scary. It’s the first time in my life I’ve felt that on a birthday. Usually I’m filled with a combination of optimism and (more recently) relief that the previous year was over. But unlike 24 - 27, 28 was an absolutely wonderful year! So many good, rewarding things happened and I have absolutely zero regrets about any of the big decisions I made these last twelve months. So just like [...]

For When You Forget to Believe In Yourself

I was thinking the other day about how much I’ve changed and grown since I was a teenager. (Funny how time does that to you).   When I was in high school, I MASSIVELY struggled with self-confidence. Some combination of shyness and perfectionism made it really hard for me to ever be satisfied with my work and too timid to be able to share anything less than perfect. Obviously that’s not a good combination, and because of it, I never shared my talents and I never put myself out there, which is a shame. A huge shame. But I don’t [...]

Time for Change

I’ve been taking a break from posting on social media. Both intentionally and unintentionally.     Unintentionally, because at first I just didn’t feeling like sharing anything. And I didn’t want to be posting things online just for the sake of the number of likes I would get or of posting for posting’s sake. But then it became intentional, because I realized the reason I didn’t feel like sharing was because I didn’t LIKE what I was sharing. Or rather… I didn’t like that I was ONLY sharing my fine art photography. So I decided to take a step back [...]

House Update – May 2019

I realized that it was really hard to do a house update in blog format, so I'm trying vlogging for this latest update. It's just easier to be able to walk around and talk to you as I'm showing you what's been going on, rather than trying to describe it all with a solitary picture for each room. What I've found is that vlogging a house tour is much more dynamic and, believe it or not, takes MUCH less time to edit and compile than writing a normal blog post does. Normal blog posts required taking photos of each room, [...]

My ENTIRE Creative Process Explained: From Idea to Finished Photo

DESPITE the fact that people have asked MULTIPLE times for me to write a post on my entire creative process, I have never actually done it. Until today.   So… I suppose the best place to begin this long asked-for blog post is to start from the beginning: where I actually get my ideas.     I get most of my ideas two different ways. The first is from experiences that either I have had, or someone close to me has been through, while the second is from specific locations I’ve scouted or from props I’ve found at either the [...]

The Hardest Year (or So) of My Life

I’ll admit it. There have been numerous occasions in the past where my blog has read less like a blog and more like my own personal journal (for which I will not apologize). And while I do enjoy being open and honest, I do still care that the things I share on here ARE actually things you want to read. Which is why, periodically, I like to ask you for suggestions on which topics I should write about.   Now, the particular topic that was suggested for today was something I was a little (lot) nervous to write about. But [...]

My Very First Time in Hawai’i

I knew I was going to love Hawai’i, but I didn’t know I was going to love it THIS much. I mean, the weather has been spectacular back here in Arkansas, and I STILL want to hop on a plane and fly to Oahu RIGHT NOW. In order to ease myself out of these Hawai’i withdrawals, I’ve been intently editing all my photos from the trip, which means I have them all ready to share on the blog today! We stayed in Hale’iwa, which if you are unfamiliar with Oahu, is on the north shore of the island. Being [...]
