My August Recap

Maddie Mondays *If you’re new here, Maddie Mondays are my personal project days, where I don’t work on anything WORK related, and get to do whatever house project I’m currently knee deep in! The infamous path is finally finished! Well, mostly. The bricks are officially laid, and the grass on both sides has been killed and turned over. On Saturday, I went with my mom and sister to buy some plants for the beds, so, now it’s basically just the finishing touches - I need to “grout” the path with sand to help stop the bricks from shifting over [...]

My July Recap

Maddie Mondays *If you’re new here, Maddie Mondays are my personal project days, where I don’t work on anything WORK related, and get to do whatever house project I’m currently knee deep in! Several months ago, I started an unforeseeably large project in my front yard. It’s always been a dream of mine to have an English cottage garden, so, at the beginning of May, Hoki and I moved the arbor we’ve had sitting around from our wedding into place to mark the edge of this dream garden. The last few Maddie Mondays (and Saturdays…and any free evening) have [...]

My June Update

Maddie Mondays A few weeks ago, my mom gave me this beautiful old mirror. The only problem (and the reason my mom wasn’t going to keep it) was it was hot pink. She didn’t have the time she thought she would to sand it down and restore it, so she gave it to me in hopes that someone could de-Barbie-ify it. So, I’ve spent the last few weeks stripping off layers of old, grungy paint. I was hoping I was going to be able to sand it down to the raw wood and stain it, but there were too [...]

Sugar Springs Got a Makeover!

The other day (and by that, I mean several weeks ago), I was looking through my blog and realized the last house update I did was back in May of 2019! I do believe I’ve done a few updates in my newsletter and on various social media platforms since then but not a fully fledged post in any one place. Hence today’s post! Maybe none of this is new to you, or maybe all of it is, but I thought it would both be fun to share. And, since I tend to forget how far this house has come, [...]

My April Recap

Some pretty intense April showers…   …are hopefully bringing us a TON of May flowers! We had some pretty intense thunderstorms this week - my road was completely flooded, and the stream across from us burst its banks and essentially turned the entire field across from our house into a river (seriously, there were huge logs floating downstream through the field). It was crazy! I’m still surprised that we didn’t lose power or our internet during the storm.   Maddie Mondays Since spring is FINALLY here for good, I’ve had fun spending time with my mom doing some plant shopping. [...]

It’s Time! Diving into the Next Passages Project!

With the Patreon poll wrapped up, I can now officially say the next Passages image I’ll be working on is... “Differences!” I’m particularly excited to get started on this one because, like the most recent thistle-inspired scene and “The Heart Will Break,” this is an idea that has been ruminating in my head for quite a while (over five years, to be exact). But enough introducing…let’s get down to the real meat of this blog post: what the idea is, where it came from, and how I hope to bring it to life!     The story I want “Differences” [...]

The March Roundup!

First of all, did March fly by for you, too? It seems like 2021 just refuses to slow down (quite unlike 2020, amiright)? So much happened in March, though, and I cannot wait to share it with you! Luckily I don't have to... because here I am... sharing everything that happened in March! Maddie Mondays Mondays are my “me” days (Hoki and I have taken to calling them my Maddie Mondays). It’s the one day of the week that I don’t have to work on anything other than what I want…or just sit on the couch and do [...]

On Turning 30 and Reflecting on the Last Ten Years

Usually when I write my birthday blog post each year, I share a list of things I’ve learned over the past twelve months. And while I do enjoy that sort of post, I felt that this year needed to be something different. It’s the start of a lot of new things this year: a new decade, a new life with Hokino, and new job opportunities. As I look ahead at this next decade of life, I wanted to also look back at the last ten years and consider all of the events that have helped me become who I am [...]

The “Finding Home” Costume

As you saw in yesterday's Patreon video and this week's social media posts, I have shifted most of the material for the Finding Home shoot away from live broadcasts and instead am sharing it on Patreon and here on my blog. So in keeping with that: today, I wanted to share a little walk-through/sneak peak of the costume! Now, let me just first say that this particular costume is SUPPOSED to look eclectic and gathered. And this was actually really nice, because it made it easy to just use whatever materials I had on hand and not worry about having [...]

The Story Behind “The Heart Will Break”

In all my dating life, I had always been the heartbreaker in the relationship. Without fail.   And so, as a younger version of myself, I had zero empathy for that emotion. Whenever I watched movies where the protagonist was absolutely devastated by the ending of a relationship, or even worse, whenever my friends went through a breakup… I just could not understand why they were being “SO dramatic”.   Don’t get me wrong, I had been sad about the ending of a relationship. But I’m realizing now that it was more because I just really hate hurting people’s feelings, [...]
