New Piece Today: Magic’s Origin!

I once read somewhere that your 20s are the hardest decade of your life. Being only 26 years old, and with much of my life still yet to be lived, I can’t really say whether or not this is true. I do know, however, that for myself, the 20s have been a rather difficult decade so far, and I’ve only just passed the halfway mark. My story for today begins on a chilly Spring night in April nearly two months ago. I was experiencing what my older self will undoubtedly look back on as an episode of immature, “woe-is-me” sulking. [...]

It’s My Birthday! (and My All-Time Favorite 26 Photos)

Today is the start of a new year. Twenty-five came and went in what seemed like a single heartbeat, leaving me at the doors of twenty-six before I could really even get used to saying I was a quarter of a century old. A lot has happened since June 22, 2015. And yet some things are still the same. In [...]

On Annoying Younger Sisters and the Prophetic Talent of Moms

As a child, there is no statement met with more disbelief and contempt than those beginning with the words ‘one day’.  Sentences such as “one day you’ll like tomatoes,” or “one day you’ll like taking showers” uttered by your parents was equivalent to them exclaiming that piano lessons were fun and the sky was yellow.   But for me, the most unbelievable of all those “one day’s” was what my mom would tell me each time I complained about my younger sister, McKenna:   “One day, you and your sister are going to be best friends.”   My younger self [...]

My Top Three Engagement and Wedding Shoots

There is something incredibly special about seeing one of your best friends get married. Last Friday, I had the opportunity to attend the wedding of my good friend Cora and her (now) husband Jason, in the Albuquerque LDS (Latter Day Saint) temple, not just as a friend and bridesmaid, but also as her photographer. When Cora asked me to be one of her bridesmaid’s, I was excited. When she asked me to take her engagement photos, I was flattered. When she asked me to do her wedding photos, I was 1) scared I would ruin my best friend’s wedding photos, 2) [...]
